King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz has called for a donor conference to raise money for Egypt, following its election of President Abdelfattah El-Sisi. “I call upon all of you, Egypt’s brothers and friends, to organise a donor conference to assist that country to overcome its economic crisis,” the king said in a 3 June statement congratulating Sisi. He went on to warn that anyone able but unwilling to provide assistance would “have no place among us tomorrow” if he were to fall into similar circumstances and require aid.
