Sanusi: Return to finance via US mega-fund

Former Central Bank of Nigeria governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi – since June 2014 emir of Kano – is returning to finance by joining the board of private equity giant Blackstone’s Black Rhino African infrastructure and energy investment vehicle. Sanusi distinguished himself as central bank governor by his efforts to reform the banking sector, and by highlighting the disappearance of $20bn from Nigeria’s oil funds. “One can scarcely imagine a stronger addition to the Black Rhino board,” said the firm’s founder and chief executive Brian Herlihy.
