Qatar: National service

The commander of the Qatar Emiri Air Force, Major General Mubarak Mohammed Al-Kumait Al-Khayarin, said on 19 February that the national service act would be issued soon. “[It] will outline all the details and matter related to joining the national service, the mechanism of action and calling up, and will also explain the process of exemptions, postponement and other points,” Al-Khayarin, who is also head of national service, said. Qatar announced plans to introduce conscription for all males aged 18 to 35 in November 2013.
