Qatar: BBC arrests

Issue 993 - 22 May 2015 | 1 minute read

The BBC has demanded Qatar explain why one of its crews was detained for two days, after gathering material for a report into migrant workers. According to Mark Lobel, one of four detained (along with a translator, driver and cameraman), the crew was on a quiet stretch of road in Doha, en route to film workers from Nepal. “Suddenly eight white cars surrounded our vehicle and directed us on to a side road at speed,” he told the BBC.
