The Qatar Digital Library was launched in London on 22 October, opening up thousands of pages of historical documents previously stored in the British Library archives to anyone with access to the internet. The portal, hosted by the Qatar National Library – a member of the Qatar Foundation – currently hosts about 90,000 pages online, but by the end of 2014 is due to have 500,000, available at www.qdl.qa. Most of the documents come from India Office records, spanning 1763-1951, and comprising files from the Bushire Political Residency and the Bahrain Agency records...
