Namibia: NamPower silent over Shilamba

Issue 306 - 07 Aug 2015 | 3 minute read

NamPower is making no comment on the future of suspended managing director Paulinus Shilamba, sent on paid leave with two other senior managers on 23 June following the cancellation of a planned power plant (AE 303/8). None of the senior officials contacted by African Energy would respond to queries over the future of Shilamba, chief technical officer O’Brien Ekandjo and chief of energy trading Werner Graupe, except to say matters were “extremely sensitive”. Their suspension appears linked to a cancelled contract with developer Xaris Energy for a 250MW power plant in the Erongo region to supply the uranium mining industry.
