Namibia: NamPower fast-tracks renewable IPPs

Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower) has finalised bid documents and framework power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the installation of a target 70MW of biomass, wind and solar photovoltaic power, to be installed under the Renewable Energy Feed-In Tariff Programme (ReFit). It plans to tender soon for another 30MW of renewable generation capacity.The ReFit programme is promoted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), and implemented by NamPower and the regulator, the Electricity Control Board (ECB). Successful bidders for the 25-year concessions will receive licences from ECB and sell their power into the NamPower grid.
