Efforts to restart the national dialogue begun in January by Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa are ongoing, but have yet to make significant progress (GSN 962/8). A member of the main opposition party Al-Wefaq told GSN the mainstream opposition was trying to “engage regularly with the crown prince in order to bring about a meaningful dialogue”. “We are engaging in several ways, including some face-to-face bilateral meetings,” former MP Ali Al-Aswad said. “It is early to judge the progress but the fact that they are happening is a good start, of course.”
