Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum (MBR) made headlines with a reminder of his rigorous personal approach to management, when in late August he sacked nine senior officials and ordered a shake-up of the commercial hub’s administration after visiting government offices from 7:30 on a Sunday morning to find that many staff had yet to arrive. His unannounced visit to Dubai Municipality, Dubai Lands Department and the Economic Development Department came on a working day when MBR had been expected to visit local schools.
