Mohammed Bin Nawaf: Attacks UK media’s Hajj reports

Issue 1001 - 07 Oct 2015 | 1 minute read

Ambassador to London Prince Mohammed Bin Nawaf Al-Saud has criticised media reports that claimed the 24 September Hajj stampede that killed more than 700 people was caused by the visit of a VIP to King Salman’s palace. “This is a malicious falsehood which has no basis whatsoever in truth. The vehicles of Saudi dignitaries do not travel through this area. To the best of our knowledge, the rumour originated on Iranian state-controlled channels, Press TV and Lebanese Addiyar.” Iran’s state-owned Fars news agency alleged that a convoy of Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and defence minister Prince Mohammed Bin Salman caused panic among pilgrims and started a stampede.
