Spain’s Cepsa has begun drilling the Tarach-1 well on Block 11A in north-west Kenya. Partner ERHC Energy said the well would be drilled to a total depth of 3,000 metres targeting a structural trap with a three-way dip closure covering a surface area of 12km2. The prospect was defined from four 2D seismic lines in a 2014 survey, and the mean estimate of oil prospective unrisked resources is 66m barrels. Cepsa farmed into the block in early 2014.
