Kenya: Bids sought to build Lamu-Nairobi East line

Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited is seeking bids by 11 August to finance and construct the 400kV Lamu-Nairobi East transmission line and an associated 400/220kV substation for evacuation of power from the 960MW Lamu coal plant. The contracted work has been divided into three lots, and bidders may apply for one or more. Lot A will require the construction of a 200km, 400kV double-circuit line from Kitui to Nairobi East, as well as a 20km, 220kV double-circuit line from Lamu Power to the existing Lamu (Hindi) substation.
