Spanish consortium partners Iberdrola Ingeniería and Gamesa have completed construction of the 13.6MW Ngong II wind power plant two months ahead of schedule. The facility comprises 16 G52 wind turbines manufactured by Gamesa, and the €21.4m ($28.5m) cost of the construction contract was financed by the Spanish fund Fondos de Internacionalización de la Empresa Española. The contractors developed Ngong II for the Kenyan Electricity Generating Company Ltd on a turnkey basis and work was completed in 16 months.
