Issue 321 - 15 Apr 2016 | 1 minute read

Greek contractor Metka announced in late March that it had signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the 192MW Amandi combined cycle gas power plant in Takoradi. Metka confirmed to African Energy that it would be undertaking the contract in consortium with the US’ General Electric, which will be responsible for the main equipment, including the gas and steam turbines. The Greek company’s part of the deal is worth around $174m. Construction on the project is expected to take 28 months, starting after the project reaches financial close, which is expected in the coming months.
