Ghana: Donkor quits over load shedding

Kwabena Donkor resigned as power minister on 31 December after failing to fulfil his pledge to end load shedding by the end of the year. President John Dramani Mahama appointed Donkor in December 2014 to head the new Ministry of Power and rescue Ghana from its escalating power crisis. Soon after taking the job, he publicly promised to resign if load shedding was not eliminated by year-end, a pledge many analysts believed foolhardy.
