Egypt: GE to provide four substations

GE on 18 April announced a $250m contract with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to supply substations in Mostathmereen, Beni Suef Industrial, Ismailia East and Temay Alemdeed. The four gas-insulated substations (GIS) will help connect 7GW of power to the national grid and reinforce Egypt’s network during periods of peak demand.The contract was part of a protocol of cooperation signed during a visit to Egypt by French President François Hollande. French components make up approximately 50% of the total project, including the GIS technologies to be installed at the substations which are manufactured and assembled in France.
