Edinburgh-based Bowleven has finally obtained government approval for its development plan for the Etinde permit. The Etinde Exploitation Authorisation Application, submitted for approval in early January, sets out plans to monetise Etinde’s liquids-rich gas by supplying treated gas to a fertiliser plant and to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) scheme. The award of the exploitation authorisation will give Bowleven development and exploitation rights over Block MLHP-7 for an initial period of 20 years. Bowleven chief executive Kevin Hart told Global Pacific & Partners’ Africa Independents’ Forum in London on 3 June that finding a home for the permit’s gas was key to monetising its liquids.
