King Abdullah has carefully placed his sons into key positions over the past two to three years, with Turki’s appointment to the Riyadh governorship the latest in a series of manoeuvres strengthening his line. Other sons in key positions are:Miteb: Sandhurst-educated Miteb, born in 1952, was appointed National Guard minister in May 2013 following the king’s upgrading of the Saudi Arabian National Guard (Sang). Miteb had been a long-time Sang officer, holding various senior positions since the mid-1980s.
