Bahrain: Nasser Bin Hamad accused of torture

It recently emerged that Prince Nasser Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa is the subject of court proceedings in Britain that will determine whether he has sovereign immunity or should be investigated for his alleged role in the torture of three people in prison in Bahrain in 2011. The High Court of Justice lifted confidentiality restrictions on the case on 9 May, and the court papers subsequently released revealed that the claimant – a Bahraini refugee in the UK referred to as FF – is challenging the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)’s assessment that Prince Nasser is immune from prosecution.
