Bahrain: Al-Wasat ban lifted

Bahrain has lifted a brief ban on main opposition newspaper Al-Wasat for allegedly threatening national unity and relations with other states. “The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) on 8 August announced the suspension had been lifted. The resumption of the newspaper’s operations follows discussions between the IAA and the newspaper’s management team to rectify past legal and regulatory failings, and a commitment from the newspaper to meet the necessary standards in future,” Bahrain News Agency said.
