South Africa nuclear proposal to be ready for cabinet by year-end

In the 2015-16 policy and budget speech for the Department of Energy (DoE), energy minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson set out the timelines for a number of government procurement programmes, including the nuclear tender. “We will commence with the actual nuclear procurement process in Q2 of this financial year [between 1 July and 1 October] to select the strategic partner or partners in a competitive, fair, transparent and cost-effective manner,” Joemat-Pettersson said. “We expect to present the outcome of this procurement process to cabinet by year-end.”
