Emir Sheikh Tamim: Erdogan inauguration

Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the inauguration of Turkey’s new president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on 28 August. The ceremony, at the presidential palace of Cankaya, involved a handover ceremony between Abdullah Gul and Erdogan, who becomes the 12th president, following his election win in August. Turkey and Qatar have become increasingly close in recent years, linked by their support for Islamist groups, and Sheikh Tamim has been a fairly frequent visitor to Turkey since assuming office.
